Coupa Café made headlines this week in the restaurant review section of The Examiner! Self-proclaimed LA travel diva, Patti Pietschmann stopped into Coupa Café for a quiet dinner with her husband.  She claims that it was “the café that comes to life in Beverly Hills.”

“For dessert, we shared delicious Tres Leches, an amped-up version of the Latin American standby of cake soaked in three kinds of milk (condensed usually being one, though Camelia said the family recipe is a secret). Coupa’s famous coffee would have been the perfect ending, but instead we brought a bag of beans home…  We ground and brewed it this morning and it was kick-ass fantastic.”

The Controversial Kombucha Tea

Kombucha Tea has become the new trend for health nuts and celebrities alike.  Both Madonna and Lindsay Lohan have been spotted sipping this beverage.  It can be bought commercially or made at home.

Kombucha is a living enzyme drink, known for being an immune system enhancer.  Since varying sanitation conditions when homemaking this tea can occur, many opt for the commercial brands, which come in a variety of flavors.  However, the tea is quite controversial.  Some doctors warn to stay away, while others endorse Kombucha, claiming it has helped many people ward off liver disease, increase energy, and aide with joint recovery.  This ancient beverage has origins in the Far East, and has been regarded for thousands of years as “the Elixir of Life” and “the Tea of Immortality.”
